October 4, 2019

Business Overview
Established for 20+ years, North Australian Publishing Company prints two well established and popular publications:

  • “In Townsville & Magnetic Island” magazine (
A tourism guide magazine featuring businesses in Townsville and Magnetic Island. This magazine is distributed by Followmont and local delivery people.
  • “Hinchinbrook Informer” (
Ingham telephone and business directory. These directories are distributed by Australia Post and local delivery people.

Both publications are very popular and sought after in their marketplace.

Local businesses are charged advertising fees to be featured in each of these publications. The sale includes both of the above websites (which are currently not fully utilised to their full potential). There are also social media opportunities from the significant client base (there is no social media presence at present.) The owner will shortly be 73 years of age and wishes to retire. He has had little understanding of the internet and its potential.

Vendor’s Hours & Duties
The vendor works 10 hours per week (5 days a week x 2 hours each day). Every month a few additional hours are spent in the week for some distribution. The business currently leases premises in the Trustee House building, 440 Flinders Street, Townsville City but the operation could very easily be run from home, resulting in savings in rent.

A graphic designer and bookkeeper are casually employed by the business.

The business is currently making a 100% return on investment. If the new owner was a graphic designer and ran the business from home, significant savings would be made, resulting in a return on investment of 148% return on investment!! This is amazing value.
